Shadow Gangs Dreamcast Edition , the high-octane ninja action game that rocked PC and consoles, has slashed its way onto the Sega Dreamcast in this stunning independent physical release – made by fans, for fans.

Drawing inspiration from 80s arcade legends like Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden, Shadow Gangs blends tight side-scrolling combat, gorgeous hand-drawn pixel art, and a synth-fueled soundtrack into one unforgettable experience – now lovingly ported to Sega’s iconic final console.

🎬 The Story Behind Shadow Gangs

Set in a dystopian near-future, Shadow Gangs follows Dan, a former ninja turned martial arts teacher, forced back into battle when the evil Shadow Gangs crime syndicate kidnaps his family. Dan must don the ninja mask once more and wage war across urban wastelands, neon skylines, and deadly fortresses to defeat the mysterious Crimson Lord and rescue his loved ones.

This Dreamcast version is not a simple port – it’s a from-scratch rebuild tailored specifically for Dreamcast hardware, ensuring smooth performance and arcade-perfect responsiveness.

DREAMCAST VERSION EXCLUSIVES

• The Dreamcast version will have 7% more vertical resolution compared to new generation versions.
• The Dreamcast version will also benefit from fixes that were made the game post release to the new generation platforms. (no more being hit through the environment, no falling from ships in the bridge level, extra continues and many more fixes and enhancements).
• The game will be even more accessible to everyone, and completable by most in the easy and normal difficultly. This is thanks to the feedback I got through the prior releases. It will be achieved by adding more continues and removing Dan getting hit through environment among other enhancements.
• The hard mode (also called Crimson Ninja mode), is staying as is, and is for elite players of which there is to my knowledge only 4 people that finished it in this mode worldwide.
• Controller rumble is also unique to the Dreamcast version.

👥 Meet the Developers

Shadow Gangs was originally created by JKM Corp, a small team of dedicated indie developers and arcade purists, led by developer Carlos Rodrigues. The game debuted on PC and Xbox in 2020 to critical acclaim from retro gaming communities.

Thanks to overwhelming fan support and demand, the team partnered with Dreamcast indie publishers to bring Shadow Gangs to life on physical Dreamcast discs in 2025.
